GRC in Polar Marine Science
We attended the Gordon Research Conference in Polar Marine Science which took place in beautiful Tuscany from the 9th to 14th March 2025. The theme for this conference was ‘Sea Ice as a Nexus in Polar Seas Between the Ocean and the Atmosphere’.
We presented a poster entitled ‘Benthic primary production in the Arctic: status and trends’, which summarized some of our published and ongoing work investigating light climate dynamics and primary production rates on the Arctic seafloor.
As expected, the GRC proved to be a fabulous opportunity to network with top polar researchers from around the world and to learn about the latest research taking place within the Arctic and Antarctic. In addition to research, the conference showcased various new and exciting polar research platforms such as the Tara Polar Station, the Polarstern II, and REV Ocean, which are sure to provide unique opportunities for accessing remote polar locations.
We’re grateful to the Chairs and organizers of the GRC Polar Marine Science for putting together a fun and inspiring program. We look forward to attending the next one.
